HELLO WORLD!!

Gio Antton Torres Salise
Born on February 28, 2019 at 8:43AM.
Weighs 3300 grams and measures 52cm at birth.

February 27, 2019. I can already feel some pain in my pelvic area pero siyempre iniisip ko baka braxton hicks lang yun. Two days straight na din ako nagvovomit during daytime. But then again, may two weeks pa ako before due date.

Midway through the mass, sinipa ni baby ang bladder so kailangan magwiwi. After magpee, nasa harap pa ako ng salamin while doing the "kembot" exercise kasi nananakit ang balakang ko. I noticed this old lady na nasa pinto ng isang cubicle. HAHAHAHAHA! She asked me to hook it for her and she asked me, "okay ka lang ba?" to which I answered "hmm. medyo nananakit lang po balakang."
old lady: kabuwanan mo na ba?
me: opo.
Right after she said this, hinawakan niya ang balakang ko and whispered a prayer for me. "In Jesus' name" (part talaga to ng kwento birthing story ko e. hahaha!)

We usually dine out after mass, pero that day masama talaga pakiramdam ko kaya umuwi na lang kami ni Jet and had dinner at home and slept around 10PM.

12:30AM. Normal naman na nagigising ako to pee so wala lang.

1:30AM. Nagising ako kasi I felt something came out. Yung feeling na may mens na lumabas. So...
F : (Medyo inaantok pa) Ga, I think my waterbag broke.
J : (3/4 sleeping, 1/4 awake) Sure ka? Baka naman napaihi ka lang.
F : Hindi, umihi ako ng 12:30

And our convo continued for about 10-15 minutes kasi di pa talaga kami convinced kahit labas na ng labas yung tubig sakin. Hahahaha! Around 2AM, we traveled to LB. I stayed as calm as possible. HAHAHAHA.

We arrived around 2:30-2:45AM sa LBDH, when the midwife IE-d me, "3CM na pero ang taas pa ng bata". After maybe 30 minutes, I was transferred to the labor room. HAHAHAHA.

(Mahaba pa ang kwentong labor room ko, try ko iupdate to from time to time kapag sinipag ako)

I fell asleep a couple of times, nagigising lang ako kasi ang sakit na ng contractions. mygaaaash.  6AM - 5cm.

It was almost a quarter after 8AM, second to the last push, I can already feel the baby crowned kaya sabi ko kay doc after the 10 second push, "Dra, game na po ulit". I pushed as hard as I can. And there, "Baby out". HAHAHAHA! I can still remember na nilagay nila si baby sa side para ayusin, ang nasabi ko na lang is "Hello baby!". Soon after, nilagay na nila sakin si baby for skin-to-skin then everything turned black.

11:30AM.
Nurse: Ma'am, ma'am, may ibang number po ba si Sir?
After three hours, ngayon lang ako nagising, or should I say, ginising ng nurse.
F: Ms. excuse me.
N: Yes po,Ma'am?
F: Nanganak na ko di ba?

The nurse smiled as said, "Opo Ma'am".

TWL

He did not bend on his knees to ask my hand for marriage.

We didn't have the typical millennial way of  doing a marriage proposal : no shimmering ring, no romantic surprise, no drama. The phrase "Will you marry me?" popped out occasionally during very random days and situation. It came in forms like "Dito ka na lang, 'wag ka muna umuwi.", "Gusto ko na ng bata (baby) natin." or "Kailan ba tayo magpapakasal?" and to me, that's beautiful.

Right from the very start, he already made it clear that his purpose is marriage; not just  to test the waters and turn back when things don't go as planned. Going back to March 12, 2013, to that time when I said "yes" to be his "imaginary friend" (as I call it before for some reason), I know that I have also said "yes" to a life-long commitment with this person whom I believe God has chosen for me.

I am one of God's most favorite while he is one of God's most faithful. He did not bend on his knees to ask my hand for marriage, instead, he bent on his knees to ask God for me through prayers.

Disclaimer : I am still waiting for a 💍, though. 😏

SongSong Couple

Because one ❤ reaction is not enough for the Songsong couple. ❤❤❤ mygaaaaahd.
My heart, my heart.

Find you a man who will look at you the way Song Joong Ki looks at Song Hye Kyo. ❤

I missed one thing

For some years now, I have always prayed for Generosity.

To give without counting the cost, to labor without seeking rest, to sacrifice myself without thought of any reward.

Little did I know, I was lacking humility.

Don't get me wrong. I am not conceited, it's just that I have a huge ego. I let my pride get in my way, some times.

All this time, I thought "feels awkward" was the right term to describe why I don't like this, why I don't like doing that. I hate having self-assessment and performance discussions with my supervisor. May it be a positive or negative review, I don't care. I "feel awkward". I don't want people to praise me for my achievements (my high school friends knows this. I hate being tagged as the "achiever". I hate them for telling other people that I am good at this, I did that, etc. I want them to let things go unnoticed.). More so, I hate being corrected. I don't like people telling me to do certain things, especially if I know (or think) that I am doing the right thing.

In statistical terms, my pride is "Poisson Distributed". There will be instances that I can take being corrected (K. Fine.) BUT that's a rare event (read: I have a huge ego).

Fast forward to 2017, I was ranting about work-related events. While I was blah-blah-blah-ing, my boyfriend silently sent me a link to this new prayer:

O Jesus! meek and humble of heart, Hear me.

From the desire of being esteemed,

Deliver me, Jesus.

From the desire of being loved...

From the desire of being extolled ...

From the desire of being honored ...

From the desire of being praised ...

From the desire of being preferred to others...

From the desire of being consulted ...

From the desire of being approved ...

From the fear of being humiliated ...

From the fear of being despised...
From the fear of suffering rebukes ...
From the fear of being calumniated ...
From the fear of being forgotten ...
From the fear of being ridiculed ...
From the fear of being wronged ...
From the fear of being suspected ...

That others may be loved more than I,

Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.

That others may be esteemed more than I ...

That, in the opinion of the world,

others may increase and I may decrease ...

That others may be chosen and I set aside ...

That others may be praised and I unnoticed ...

That others may be preferred to me in everything...

That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should…

He mentioned terms like "pride" and "ego". I was shookt. All this time, I thought "feels awkward" was the right term to describe how I truly feel. Unknowingly, it was PRIDE and EGO. One thing I am missing: the need to learn how to control and overpower these two.

I have always prayed for generosity; To give without counting the cost, to sacrifice myself without thought of any reward. Little did I know, I also need to pray for humility. To learn how to lower my pride and set my ego aside as well as to accept that things will not always go my way. (BUT HEY!!! I already did this a couple of times in the past!)

For some years now, I have always prayed for generosity, but this time, I will pair it with humility (prayer guys. prayer) and let's see where this new road will lead me. :)

Sundan ang 'yong pangarap

'Cos seriously, what's not to love about this song?

Pagmasdan ang guhit sa palad
Kay raming landas sa ‘yo’y inaalay
Bawat isa ay mayroon patutunguhan
Batid mo ba kung saan ka pupunta
Tuklasin ang nais mong marating
isipin kung paano ito makakamit
Piliin ang landas patungo sa inaasam
Gamitin mong gabay sa iyong paglalakbay
refrain:
Kung saan patungo ang landas
Sundan mo hanggang katapusan
chorus:
Subukan mong unti-unting tahakin ang iyong landas
Sikapin mong marating ang mga pangarap
Ano mang kasawian ang iyong maranasan
Ipagpatuloy lang iyong paglalakbay
Piliin ang landas na yong binabaybay
Parang ilog pasikut-sikot ang daan
Saang lugar ka man mapadpad o maligaw
Humayo ka’t ituloy ang paglakbay
(repeat refrain and chorus, except last line)
Sundan ang iyong pangarap

Adulting

Growing old is inevitable;
Growing up is so fuckiiiin' optional and hard!

Thursday, October 27, 2016

'Cos this is really going nowhere.

Not Every Place You Fit In Is Where You Belong

Reflect on this image of a garlic head with a tangerine slice in it.

**While the tangerine slice fits perfectly into the crevice left in the garlic head by the missing clove, very few would say that this is where the tangerine slice belongs. Just because the slice fills the vacancy does not mean the slice should remain there. The slice is seemingly one with its surroundings, just as the head seems to be completed; however, this is not where both the slice and the head would be best suited and appreciated.

This example serves as a powerful metaphor for our lives. Some of us are tangerine slices and do not realize it until we look more closely at our own circumstances. It is easy to become complacent with our current situations, even if they do not suit us. Despite all of this, we are inclined to stay where we fit in and do not seek out where we belong, even if we are not comfortable. It is simply easier to assimilate rather than to seek out where we are truly content.

Alternatively, some of us are the head of garlic. We are missing something from ourselves and are looking for a way to fill the vacancy. Just as the slice of tangerine is missing from its whole, the head of garlic sought its clove. The head of garlic certainly isn’t meant to be completed by the slice of tangerine, and is allowing this unnatural fit for reasons unbeneficial to itself. Despite the fact that some things are not best for us, we look for the most convenient way to fill our voids. Both the tangerine slice and the head of garlic are continuing their current patterns for the wrong reasons, just as we do.

You may find yourself to be either the slice of tangerine or the head of garlic. By continuing our current patterns, or “fitting in,” we are often inhibiting ourselves from discovering where or with whom we “belong.” We must break free of these patterns and seek out what will help us to become whole.
